How long does it take to build a playground?
The main difference between residential and commercial play equipment is that the quality of the materials differs significantly. Residential equipment is usually designed for the kids of one household and may occasionally be used by neighborhood children or friends. It is assumed that the kids will grow out of it and be replaced within a few years, so residential play equipment is made with stronger, cheaper materials.
Commercial equipment, on the other hand, is designed to accommodate a larger group of kids at one time and over longer periods of time. It is also built to be more rugged and last much longer than residential playground equipment, as it will likely be in constant use and exposed to the elements.
To help commercial playground equipment last longer, rotationally molded LDPE (low-density polyethylene) is used to manufacture many of our structures. This durable material is stronger and more resilient than lumber, which quickly wears down under heavy use. To further aid in the longevity of your commercial playground equipment, powder coatings are applied to several surfaces and structures to create a safer environment for kids. This protects them from sharp or hot objects, rusting metal and even static cling.
